Philippines Flag-Raising Ceremony
Join us for a historic moment as Hamilton hosts its first-ever, Philippines Flag-Raising Ceremony, celebrating Filipino Heritage Month. Organized by the passionate team at Hamilton Fiesta Extravaganza (HFE), led by esteemed community leader, Mariewin de Guzman, this event promises to be a momentous occasion filled with cultural pride and unity.
Gather at the Hamilton City Forecourt on June 3, 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. to witness the raising of the Filipino flag, symbolizing the rich heritage and contributions of the Filipino community to Hamilton and beyond. Be part of this moment of celebration and solidarity as we come together to honour our shared culture and identity.

Pagtitipon: Art and History Gathering
The pagtitipon art and history gathering is for kids (5-11 years old) and for women- and femme-identifying folks from the Filipina/x/o Hamilton community. This gathering is for us to reimagine communities, inclusion, and justice in the Covid19 pandemic and beyond.

Sari-Saring: History and Filmmaking Workshop
Using the idea of the sari-sari, participants will be creating their film projects throughout the three sessions. The workshop invites the participants to focus on developing and enjoying their film, reflecting on their emergent knowledge of Philippine history and the pride of their heritage's richness and diversity.

kulay ng ka/SAYSAY/an: Art and History Workshop
Knowing oneself requires knowing one's history. Do you have a 6 to 9-year-old who loves to know about Philippine history? Who would like to express their learning through art? Do you trace your lineage from the Philippines? Are you living in Hamilton, ON? If you answered yes to all of these, then register your child to join the Filipinas of HamOnt for two evenings of Kulay ng Ka/saysay/an: a history +art workshop in a virtual space.
